National Girls & Women in Sports Day Should Be Celebrated Everyday

ON Point

As a Division I athletic coach, I have seen firsthand how sports, played at every level, shape future leaders. The transferability of these critical skills is undeniable—women who compete in sports develop resilience, adaptability, collaboration, teamwork, and emotional intelligence. These aren’t just athletic skills; they’re leadership traits that drive success in business, boardrooms, and beyond.

As a former coach and now an executive coach, I witness this transformation on a daily basis. With women’s sports surging in popularity, sponsorships, and media visibility, we’re witnessing a powerful shift—not just in athletics, but in leadership a well. The confidence and skills built on the field or court are the same ones fueling success in executive suites and organizations worldwide.

Today, we celebrate the athletes, coaches, executives, and trailblazers who continue to push boundaries and create opportunities for the next generation. The future is bright because of the resilient women who compete, lead, and win—both in sports and in leadership.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Follow the ON Point Action Plan to develop skills that will take you from the court to the corporate arena.
